How is it already November???

IIt really seems like just a few weeks ago that we were wearing shorts and sunglasses.

OOh wait… it literally was a few weeks ago.

IIowa.

If you know, you know.

If you don’t, you are really missing out!

I know there are a lot of issues, troubles, worries, conflicts, and overall negativity going around lately. I know the political ads and arguments are reaching a peak and nearly impossible to avoid. I know the emptiness of promises and veneer of empathy being packaged for purchase.

Well, Iowans rarely pay retail and we do our research.

If you know, you know.

We may fall for a gimmick or get taken while distracted, but we call that tuition.

We paid a little and learned a lesson we can take with us, but it doesn’t have to change us. It doesn’t have to make us more jaded, less empathetic, or reclusive.

It is a lesson on how we want to be treated and what is truly important.

Like loving my neighbor as I love myself.

LLike loving God with all my heart, my mind, and my strength.

Like seeking justice, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God.

Like eating. Like breathing. Like sleeping.

The weather changes in Iowa from hour to hour in all five of our seasons.

Our political affiliations and Cy-Hawk Award champions change often too.

“Guaranteed to Change” could almost be a contender for a new state motto…

If we want to change it again, that is.

No matter the changes ahead, I know what will never change: That the best of it is God is with us!

Hopefully, that forever changes us.
